  • IVAO Virtual Sky Software Roadmap

    Dear IVAO Family, For some time it has been the Network's wish to be able to provide you with transparent and regular updates of our plans for, and the progression, of IVAO's infrastructure and software/web systems. Following a restructure of the Development Operations Department we were able to appoint new Directors and Team Managers. Yannick and Frederico have assumed the positions of Director and Assistant Director respectively. The main focus of their first two weeks was to meet with the new Team Managers and finalise a roadmap for our infrastructure and software/web systems, changing the landscape in around 12 months. The aim is to provide you with updates every 3 months, on what to expect to be released during that period and an update on what has happened since the previous quarter. So, without further ado, here goes… What is planned for Q1 of 2022? World Servers It is no hidden fact that our current SHARD servers do not have the capability to withstand a tremendous amount of connections to IVAO. December of last year saw a deficiency during the Crowded Skies event that meant we were unable to achieve the figures we had wished. The reasoning behind this issue is that IVAO has no ownership to develop the current source code of the SHARD servers. Our dedicated Developers have now created our own servers, called ‘World Servers’, that will enable better stability, more connections and lay the foundations to be able to implement more enhanced features in the future. The World Server will be cross compatible on release with the latest versions of IvAc, IvAp, Altitude and Aurora but the introduction of new features, later in the year, will see support for IvAc and IvAp versions closed at a later date. The project is under Alpha testing at the moment and is due for release, to all members, by the end of March. Aurora for Windows Aurora was responsible for 85% of ATC connections in December 2021, being the most popular of the ATC clients compatible with IVAO. We will shortly be releasing our ALPHA version, currently used by IVAO Staff, as the latest available BETA to all members after which we will not be implementing any new features to Aurora for Windows, instead focusing on stabilizing this latest BETA to remove any existing bugs and eradicate crashes. Anyone who does have an issue with Aurora for Windows should contact our friendly User Support Team by speaking one-on-one with them on the Family Discord, posting in the forum or by emailing where a member of the team will gladly assist. Aurora for Mac/Linux It goes without saying that Aurora for Linux and Mac has been a calling for some time now, we are pleased to advise that Aurora for Mac/Linux is being actively developed to achieve the same key aspects of Aurora for Windows. The project is under development and expected for a network BETA release by August. Voice ATIS A new feature for IVAO, the Network will see the introduction of Voice ATIS continue its development. Voice ATIS will enable Pilots to be able to get the latest weather, runway and other ATIS information for their departure and arrival airports. Voice ATIS will only be compatible with IVAO’s latest offering of software, meaning it will only be received by Pilots using Altitude and only transmitted by Controllers who are using Aurora. The project is under development and expected for a network release by June. What is left to come for the rest of 2022? IVAO has much more to offer to it’s Family in 2022. Deemed “the year of change” by the Senior Leadership Team, we aim to see the departure of TeamSpeak 2 forever and the smooth landing of our new voice systems including Voice UNICOM.   • LHSimulations Releases Budapest Airport MSFS

    Finally the day has come! We are extremely happy to tell you that LHBP Budapest Airport has been released for MSFS! You can find it in the official built-in Marketplace of MSFS! We would like to thank you all your awesome support and patience during this incredible journey! Without you this would not be possible. Thank you! We think we could create an even more beautiful scenery. Not only the resolution of textures has been increased (old objects have now 2048x2048 textures instead of 1024x1024) but all objects have now PBR materials. The recent changes at the airport has been incorporated to the scenery. New apron, new taxiways, new parkings and new gates. There are a bunch of new buildings like the new PIER and the BudCargo complex. The aeropark museum has been relocated as well. But we do not stop here. We are working hard on further improvements. In the upcoming patches we will make further optimizations, new objects, new buildings and new functions. Prepar3D users will not be forgotten. We are planning to release scenery for Prepare3D v4 and v5. Timeline is unknown yet but we will keep you posted. Source

  • Boundless Simulations Releases Teesside For X-Plane 11

    Located in the North East of England, Teesside is an important hub for the area. Airlines including KLM, Loganair, TUI, Eastern and Ryanair fly a range of domestic and international routes from the airport. As well as the standard airline traffic, Teesside is also a base for Draken Europe, who operate their fleet of Falcon 20 aircraft from the airport. The airport has also handled military traffic, as well as visits from Air Force One. This scenery release also coincides with a major investment in the actual airport, which aims to improve passenger experience by introducing improved gates, as well as a range of new bars, cafes and shops.   • Lionheart Reports On Light Issue With Trinidad For MSFS

    Just to let you know, I have been working hard to figure out why the lights turn off in the Trinidad since Build 4.1. The Potentiometer seems to be the culprit as it was then, when added to dim instrments lights when going to 3D instrumentation, that this popped up. I have tried separating the plane's model to separate interior/exterior mesh (not what we did in the FSX and P3D sims, its an Asobo thing and not required) and that didn't work. I have tried redoing code, using different Asobo knob codes, searching through the custom Behavior codes, changing things around in order... Nothing has worked except one, and that was a 'single model', where you do not have a secondary Interior model, but then you cannot have Occluder to keep the rain out, difficulty with hiding pilots when in the plane, etc. So that was out of the question, unless those aspects could be met. IF... you have ideas on what this bug could be, I and all the Trinidad owners would be grateful for your input. Another choice, which is one I do not want, is to take the Potentiometers out. In the Beta 4.2 I am working on, I now have 3 Potentiometers or 'Dimmers' in the interior lights; for instruments, blue glow, and overhead dome lights. They are AWESOME... I do not want to drop them. We need this tech. It enhances the plane tremendously. I need to know how to fix this. That is the wall that we are up against. So if you think of what it might be, what is causing the lights to reset and turn off, why they need to be double clicked when starting into a flight, please let me know. Source

    Fabio Merlo announced the Autumn Update for the version 4.5 of FlightControlReplay Professional: for the most complete Record / Replay utility for MSFS, P3D5 - 1 and FSX.     Another FREE update is available to ALL registered users of FlightControlReplay (FCR). Among the NEW features that have been added. we introduce the AI Traffic detection: FCR lets you select one or multiple AI aircraft operating in your vicinity so you can Record and Replay from their point of view. Switch and cycle between the different aircraft. AI detection include both AI Traffic generated by the simulator, and the AI planes generated by PlayASAI feature of FCR, with their respective custom position. Coming along this AI Aircraft detection, FCR lets you Record and Replay one or multiple selection of them at once. In one FCR instance, you can generate other Ghosts Aircraft with PlayAsAI feature for formation flying, and in another FCR instance running at the same time, you can Record and Replay several aircraft among them, or even follow one or several AI aircraft operating near your main User Aircraft.   • MT Scenery Design Update On Coventry Airport for MSFS

    Long time no post! Here is the latest building progress on the project! Drew has kindly shared with me some up to date models/texturing for the Midlands Air Museum, showing off nice PBR weathering/reflections, and these have now been imported into the sim! MT Scenery Design Coventry Airport (EGBE) has been under development for some months now. It was previously announced that release was expected some time in the first quarter of 2020. Source
